Finish this sentence "10 years from now I will be...." (explain)

10 years from now I will be 25 years old.  I will have graduated college and moved back closer to home. Maybe I will be sharing an apartment with a friend for a few years. Hopefully in 10 years I will still be in contact with distant friends. Hopefully I will be working as an RN in the NICU. Hopefully when I'm 25, I will sort of have my life planned out and will start my "new" life.

Yesterday I had you choose a global issue and you wrote about it on your blog. Today on your blog I want you to tell me about two different perspectives of your global issue. Are there people for an against your issue? Do people disagree on your issue? Is it a topic that can cause controversy? Look at the issue for two different perspectives. Tell me about those perspectives.

I honestly think that most people are against cancer. It destroys families and lives. A lot of people are for treating cancer and that is something the medical field tries to work towards each day. You could disagree on how to treat cancer. Doctors might disagree on what is best for their patient. Cancer could lead up to a controversy because you have so many doctors all putting their opinions in on how the cancer could be treated most effectively. I would say that there could actually be three perspectives. One perspective could be the doctors. Doctors are just doing their job and probably treat a lot of cancer patients every day. A second perspective could be the immediate family members of the person who has cancer. The immediate family members go through a lot and it's really hard for other people that are not in your exact shoes to understand what is really going on.  Then there is a third perspective which would be friends and relatives. Relatives might also go through a stressing time with trying to do all they can do to help you out. Friends might have the stress of not being able to see a friend who is in the immediate family. All friends and relatives can only really understand maybe a little of how to just be there for you and catch you when you fall during your rough times.

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your life here at BVHS. What activities or clubs are you involved in? What year are you in school? What is your favorite class and/or teacher so far this year? What are you looking forward to this school year? Include some original photos from your phone if you can.

I am a Freshman here at BVHS. I'm not really involved in any clubs or sports here at this school. My favorite class so far has been Honors Biology, even though it has been my hardest class this year with requiring the most work, it is interesting to me. My favorite teacher has probably also been Mr. Hulse, my Bio teacher, because he is just really laid back and easy to talk to.  I'm looking forward to playing for the Blue Valley Titans lacrosse team and I am excited to see what team I can make.

Kids always seem to have that square with a glowing light stuck in their faces. I just don't get what is so important about those little hand held glowing boxes. Not only the little boxes, they sit in front of a big glowing box all day long, watching television and playing video games. Have these kids ever heard of a book or playing outside? Technology has taken over too much. The kids are always blasting their music till the whole house vibrates too. It feels as if their phones are more important then me or anyone else. I don't think they would be able to survive my childhood.

Glioblastoma Brain Cancer

1. Without doing any research, what background do you currently have on this issue?
2. What do you want to know about this issue?
3. Why did you choose this issue? Had it effected your life? Is it something you are passionate about? Explain.

1.  I know that it is a very aggressive and rapid growing type of cancer.  It is terminal and even if you are able to remove the tumor, it almost always grows back. The survival rates are extremely low also.

2. I want to dig deeper into what might cause this type of cancer to form. I want to find out new information that I didn't know about before so my understanding of the type of cancer can be more clear.

3. I choose it because I want to know what was going on with my Dad. It did effect my life greatly and if it took my Dad's life I would like to know why it did.

Last week I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

First, you wanted each project to have their own unique touch to it. Second, since we have all ready used Google slides to make a regular power point, you wanted us to explore into new parts of Google slides so that we actually came out of the project with new knowledge and instead of just repeating the same project with a different topic, we came out knowing how to make a unique presentation that we can not only use for this class, but other classes as well as in the future for other non-school purposes.

What are your thoughts on this class so far? Easy? Hard? Informative? Frustrating? What have you learned so far? What do you want to learn? Explain yourself.

For right now, this class is pretty easy for me. It's easy because I all ready learned everything about the blog last semester in Web Design. I also had my blog page set up from the previous semester so I didn't have to worry about setting up a new blog. So far, the only thing I've learned is how to use Google slides which has helped me use it for another project in another class as well.

Tell me about your weekend. What did you do? Upload a photo to your Google Drive and then insert the photo (or photos!) to your blog post to show me what all you did.

This Weekend I went to my first KC Blue Lions high school practice on Friday. I got to meet my new coaches and team. Friday evening we had a little fondue party at our house with our family and relatives. Then Saturday  night I went to our Girl Scout's service unit Daddy daughter dance at Lakewood Middle School and helped out with serving the food. On Sunday I had another lacrosse practice with the KC Blue Lion team that I will be playing with in Palm Springs, CA this weekend. After my practice we had to rush over to my sisters basketball game. After that, best of all, I got to do my homework. It was a pretty busy weekend.

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I totally agree with this newspaper clipping. If you don't start to learn how to make it on your own while you still have the backbone from your parents, you are going to tumble when you hit the real world. Most teens and young adults who never developed this backbone when they had the their parents support are either still living at home, if their parents are nice enough, or out practically on the streets trying to make ends meet with a minimum wage job. Instead of going to college and making an effort to bloom in life and make their bright future to become a reality, they are sitting at home, playing video games all day, sleeping till noon, thinking that everything will be okay because their parents will take care of them . News flash, your parents work hard to support the family and they didn't get there by sleeping in till noon and playing video games. They got their from hard work and dedication. If you want to be successful, you have to work hard first.
